Culture and Language
Culture is a vital component of what makes us human. It is in every aspect of our everyday lives, including our environment, community, material objects, and how we communicate. Without it, humanity would not exist, as it is necessary for survival. Every community or group has its own culture that varies from geographical locations and timelines. It has existed since the dawn of time and will continue to exist indefinitely. Language is also a key component in the development of culture. It's how we interact and communicate with one another to spread culture. Language is not limited to humans, as animals have their own languages as well. It does not have to be spoken and can instead be written, passed through symbols, or made with hand gestures.

In the article "When Disaster Tests the Strength of Human Cooperation" by A.J Faas, the author recounts a story from a woman named Judith from Ecuador. There was a volcanic eruption that caused immense damage to her home village, where they had to relocate to a safer area. In their new home, the people affected by the disaster came together as a community to care for one another, offering supplies and shelter. A minga is a word used by the Indigenous communities in the area that describes coming together as a community to build infrastructure and raise farms. The main focus is on collaborative work to achieve an objective. As humans, we rely on social interaction and collaborative efforts to thrive. Without this form of community and bond, we would not survive.

In the video "AINU: Indigenous Peoples in Japan" posted by the United Nations, the video goes into detail about an indigenous group of people called the Ainu who live in Hokkaido, Japan. There are about 25000 Ainu people left today, which has left them to be considered a dying ethnic group. The people have existed for centuries, and their population decline has been due to strict laws placed by the Japanese Government on their everyday practices. Currently, there are many efforts being made in order to preserve their unique culture. Much of their cultural identity lies in song, dance, and religious practices. With modern help and the resilience of the Ainu people, their culture can be preserved for centuries more.
